The following Durlas Og notes were published in this weeks Tipperary Star:

Reflections by Jimmy Coppinger
We are now heading into our 36th year in existence, so it is time to reflect on those years.

In this piece I would like to pay tribute to the teachers and Christian Brother of Scoil Ailbhe and C.B.S. schools. Of course we all know how the Club colours came to be red and white, as there was a Corkman involved in the formation of the Club. The Railway field, and the school field and yards of both schools were placed at our disposal. The hall and school pre-fabs were also there for us for medal presentations and Club meetings; even the school minibus was used to transport teams to away matches.  When we organised fundraisers the lay teachers gave freely of their time and energy, to help us out. Games in the School yards on Saturday morning helped to instil a love of hurling in our young boys and helped them progress to the Cumann na mBunscoil U11 and U 13 competitions. By working closely with the teachers we were able to spot upcoming talent for Bord na nÓg activity.

In later years  we were able to help pay for coaches in the schools in conjunction with a Fás scheme, sponsored partly by Tipperary Junior Board and ourselves. This was beneficial  as the coaches were also to the fore at Club level. In later years we developed our own field and now we have facilities second to none. Páirc na nÓg  can facilitate school teams, and so we are in a position to repay the schools for their help. Páirc na nÓg  is of course used by Bord nan ÓG and other clubs in the area.  other clubs in the area.

We would also like to pay tribute to the teaches of Gaelscoil Bhride, Scoil Mhuire, Leugh and Rahelty schools for their help over the years. Over the last couple of years we held our medal presentation nights in the LIT Thurles Campus. It has made this function very popular with parents and players. Once again our sincere thanks.

Medal Presentation
We invite everyone to our medal presentation in LIT Thurles  on Friday November 28th at  7.30.

Best of Luck
We wish our players involved in the various mid football squads the best of luck . These inter divisional tournaments will be played on November 29th and December 6th.
