We had a wonderful experience at the Feile Peil na nOg which was held in the South East at the weekend. Our host club Rathgarogue Cushionstown were excellent in their welcome and looked after us so well for the weekend. On the football field we defeated St Patricks, Wicklow in our first game and we followed that up with a hard fought victory against Killoe from Longford. On Saturday morning we defeated the host club and so finished top of our group. Next it was on to the team bus for the long trip to the Wicklow Centre of Excellence in Ballinakill to play the quarter final against Ferbane from Offaly. An extremely strong wind had a major impact on this game. We had the use of it in the first half, but only lead by 2 points at the break. Our second half performance was excellent as we defended heroically and the teams were level entering the final minutes. However 2 late points from the Offaly men secured victory for them. Ferbane went on to win the competition enjoying a big win in the semi final and winning the final by 8 points.. Disappointment for us then, but what a year we have had on the football field winning Mid and County titles in both the Feile and U14 A. The Feile weekend was a wonderful experience for the players ,mentors, parents and supporters and something we will remember for many years to come.
