The following notes were published in this weeks Tipperary Star:

Medal Presentation Night
We held our annual Medal Presentation night in LIT Thurles on December 2nd.  This occasion is always one of the highlights of the Durlas  Óg calander.   Our dignitaries on the night included our President, Mick Carroll, Life Vice President : Jimmy Coppinger, our chaplain Fr. Vincent Stapleton, and Sean Costello, Tipperary County Board Representative. In addition our special guests on the night were Pádraig Maher and Michael Cahill. John Smith was M.C. on the night.

Pat Stakelum, Chairman, welcomed everyone and the lads were treated to words of encouragement from Fr. Vincent Stapleton and our special guests; Michael Cahill and Pádraig Maher.  It was indeed an honour  for our boys to be presented with their medals by former members of the club, who are  All- Ireland medal winners themselves.    Our MC John Smith, took particular pride in congratulating Pádraig Maher on being named Tipperary Senior captain.

On the night we also had some individual  awards. We had football and hurler of the year trophies for our under tens, twelves, fourteens and sixteens. Keith Loughnane  and Ben Nolan took the under 10 awards. James Ayilaran, Daniel Rossiter, Philip Hayes and Arrron Moore the 12s.Conor Fogarty, Emmet Fogarty , Henry Fogarty and  Conor Stapleton the 14’s. Eoin Purcell and David Mawe took the honours in the under 16s.

There are so many people we would like to thank for helping to make the night such a success, but we must reserve a special word of thanks for John O’ Loughlin who documents the trials and triumphs  for Durlas Og on an ongoing basis. The result of his commitment to our club can be seen on the website, and it is a credit to him.

We would also like to thank LIT Thurles for the use of their wonderful facilities on the night, and likewise the people who looked after hospitality on the night. Go raibh mile maith agaibh.

Date for the Diary
Our Annual Card night will take place on January 11th in the Sarsfield Social Centre.  Further details to follow.
