The following notes were published in this weeks Tipperary Star:

With the festivities of Christmas and New Year behind us, we are kicking off 2012 with our medal presentation night, this coming Friday, Jan 13th at 7.00 in the Tipperary Institute.

This will be followed with our annual fundraiser – ’25 ‘ Card Drive in the Sarsfields Centre, on Wednesday night next, January 18th.

The Annual General Meeting will take place in the Clubhouse on Friday, January 20th, we encourage all to attend.

This is also a good time to look back and a review of 2011 has recently been added to the website. Check out details relating to all groups and competitions. We have included some of the highlights from the first half of the year here:

In January we had the AGM, and in February all groups returned to training, March saw Durlas Óg fielding big numbers for the St Patrick’s Day Parade, and having an instrumental group and a quiz team participate in the Scór na bPáistí competition in Clonmore.

April saw the under 12’s take part in the Premier Mini Football leagues, whilst the under 10s enjoyed some good hurling in blitzes against Loughmore/ Castleiney, Holycross Ballycahill and Ballingarry.

In the same month Durlas Og were well represented on the victorious Mid Under 14 and Under 15 football teams in the inter divisional competitions. Rory Purcell and Jamie Curtis were members of the Under 14 panel while Luke Kelly, Paul Sammon, Billy McCarthy and Faoilain Linnane were on the Under 15 panel. Luke Kelly was captain of the victorious team.

In May, some of the under 12’s travelled to Croke Park to take part in the Munster Activity Day. Later that same month Durlas Óg were well represented on the Mid Under 16 team that was defeated by North Tipperary in the Munster final.

Another highlight was the thrilling draw with Holycross/Ballycahill in the Mid Under 16 ‘A’ football semi final. The replay a week later was another exciting game but we had to give best to Holycross on a final score of Holycross/Ballycahill 4-6 Durlas Og 3-4.

Our Under 16 'B' team were defeated by Drom/Inch in the Mid Under 16 'B' football final. The team gave it their very best against a physical stronger Drom/Inch side who went on to win by 4-17 to 3-4.

In June we held a “Guess the Score” competition for the Tipperary v Cork Munster Hurling Championship quarter final in Semple Stadium. The Under 10 took part in a blitz hosted by Clonoulty/Rossmore . The Under 12’s hosted challenge matches against Ballyboden St. Enda's in Pairc na nOg. The Under 14’s suffered a comprehensive defeat to Drom/Inch in the Mid Under 14 'A' football. One of the highlights of the month for Michael Purcell was playing on the Tipperary Primary Game team in Semple Stadium.

The Under 8 travelled to Toomevara to take part in the inter divisional blitz...The Premier Under 12 hurling leagues commenced. If you can’t wait until next week for the second part of the review of 2011 check it out on .
