Our U12 B Gaelic Football team continued their good run of form by securing their third win in four games at Pairc na nOg on Tuesday 3 April, when they defeated Boherlahan-Dualla. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the opening half we started well and held a good lead at the interval. A more defensive effort was required in the second half before we eventually ran out comfortable winners. Jamie Donavan kept a clean sheet in goals and there were strong performances from Jack Lanigan, Cathal Hayes and Cian McDonnell, amongst others.
Training continues on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Last Saturday our Under 14s won the Mid Feile Hurling title. We played J K Brackens in the Semi Final and in a very competitive game we ended up winning on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-2.Our centre forward Loran O Toole had to leave the field mid way through the second half with an ankle injury but the team drove on to set up a final meeting with Holycross.
We started the final in great style with an early goal from Mark Purcell. Holycross took control for the rest of the half and led at half time on 1.-4 to 1-0.The team started fast in the second half with a goal from Michael Stakelum. This settled the team and we added another eight points to finish up winning 2-8 to 1-4.The whole panel of players played their part in the victory with Bill Darcy, Michael Purcell and Mathew Kelly outstanding.
Football takes over this week, on Wednesday our second team play Moycarkey while on Thursday our first team play J K Brackens after opening with a win last week over Holycross.
The Mentors and players wish Loran O Toole a speedy recovery to action.
Monthly meeting will take place in the clubhouse on Thursday, April 11th, at 8.30pm.
