The following notes were published in this weeks Tipperary Star:
UNDER 16: Our ‘A’ team defeated Moycarkey-Borris on Saturday. We will play Drom-Inch next Monday in The Ragg at 7.30 p.m.
UNDER 14: Last week our ‘A’ team defeated Holycross-Ballycahill in the Mid semi final. We started fast and had a goal and a point from Michael Purcell in the first five minutes.Holycross came back with points from frees before Anthony Cooney goaled following good work from Kevin Donnelly. The second half continued with both defences on top but two more goals from Matthew Kelly and Loran O’Toole sealed the win. The half back line of Jason Jordan, Bill Darcy and Harry Fitzgibbon played really well while up front Michael Purcell and Matthew Kelly were on top. Next up for this team is the Mid Final on Thursday 16th.
This Thursday our ‘B’ team play Thurles Gaels in Kickhm Park in their Mid semi final at 7.00 p.m.
UNDER 12 : It was another busy week for our hurlers with both our ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams qualifying for the Mid finals due to be played on Saturday August 18th. First up on Monday 30 July our ‘C’ team played Drom-Inch in Holycross. This was an absolutely brilliant game which held the attention of the attendance to the final whistle. Drom blitzed us early on and we trailed by 10 points after ten minutes. We dragged ourselves back into the game and a David Mawe goal gave us hope but Drom goaled again in the final minute of the half to lead by 7 at the break. The second half was extremely exciting as we fought desperately to reduce arrears with improved performances all over the field, and when the final whistle blew we had secured a 3 point win. There were excellent performances all round but special mention must go to Shane Stapleton, Jordan Fahy, James Armstrong and Conor Stapleton who were immense.
Our ‘B’ team were in action the following night against Upperchurch-Drombane in Boherlahan. This game was played in terrible conditions but was very exciting nonetheless. We played against the wind in the first half and in a half dominated by strong defending we retired at the break at one point each. An early goal for Upperchurch in the second half gave us an uphill task but we took the game to our opponents. Though we dominated we found it hard to get scores with the Upperchurch goalie excelling. A Joe Dwan point narrowed the gap and eventually we got the break we needed with a Peter Wall goal. We eventually secured a 3 point win with great performances from Cathal Hayes, Ben Murphy, Jack Dwyer and Joe Dwan. Our ‘A’ team played their semi final against Moycarkey-Borris on Tuesday evening.
UNDER 10: Training for football and hurling continues at the usual times.
UNDER 8: Training as usual this Saturday for Under 8 and Academy players at 10.00 a.m.
KELLOGGS CUL CAMP: Our Cul Camp will be held next week from Monday to Friday. Team mentors will inform players of arrangements. We wish all involved a very enjoyable week.
