P
ride of place this week goes to our C team who won the Mid final against Moyne/Templetuohy which was played at The Ragg last Saturday. Moyne started well and led by two points early on but a Cormac Flynn goal gave us the lead. However we were under lots of pressure and required great work from our defence to keep Moyne at bay .We trailed by a point at half time but started the second half strongly with early goals by James Armstrong, Conor Stapelton and Jordan Fahy and we eventually ran out convincing winners against a gallant Moyne side. There was great delight as captain Shane Stapelton lifted the cup. Durlas Og panel was as follows:Dara Stakelum,Conor Stapelton,Paddy Creedon,Liam Kenny,Shane Stapelton,Cormac Flynn, David Mawe, Niall Dwan, Donnacha Byrne, Eoghan Ryan, James Armstrong, Jordan Fahy.
No such luck for our B team however as they were defeated by Thurles Gaels in a well contested final. A slow start saw us fall four points behind early on but scores from Arthur Geronimo and Peter Wall saw us just a point in arrears at half time. An exciting second half saw us take the lead. However Gaels scored two quick goals and although we finished strongly with a goal of our own time ran out on us and we finished three points in arrears. Hard luck to our panel made up of Aaron Mulchaire, Stephen Dorney,Jack O Dwyer, Cillian Donaghy, Cathal Hayes, Patrick Scully, Ben Murphy, Arthur Geronimo, Joe Dwan, Sean Collins, Peter Wall,Jamie Donavan, Rory Fogarty and Shaun Kennedy.
Finally well done to host club Drom and Inch on the excellent organisation and facilities for the finals.

Last Thursday evening both of our teams played in their Mid finals. Our second team played Clonakenny and though they fought hard were defeated on the night.Best on the night in terrible conditions were Aidan Butler ,Sean Barrett and Michael Stakelum. This team moves on to the shield competition and also have tournaments to play in .

Next up our first team played J K Brackens.Playing with the strong wind in the first half we held a good lead at half time .Soon after the restart Conor Stakelum goaled and when Gavin Wright added another we were on our way to a great win. With light fading the final whistle was blown with the scoreboard reading Durlas Og 4-10 J K Brackens 3-08.All players played their part in this win with Matt O Brien excellent in goals, Bill Darcy holding the half back line and Gavin Wright, Mark Purcell and Conor Murphy lively up front. This team now go forward to play the winners of the West in a county semi final on September 8th.
