Our Under 12’s had mixed fortunes in their Mid semi finals played in Pairc na nOg on Tuesday 30 July. Our ‘B’ team were defeated by Thurles Gaels. We trailed at half time but a Cathal Hayes goal gave us hope. However Gaels finished strongly and ran out deserving winners. There were good performances from Cathal Hayes, Luke Beresford, Conor Fogarty and Stephen Donavan. Our ‘A’ team were involved in a thriller against Drom/Inch. We trailed 1.05 to 0.5 at half time. Two goals early in the second half appeared to put us on the road to victory but Drom finished strongly to leave the final score 2.07 each. The teams were still level at half time in extra time but points from James Armstrong and Jack Lanigan eventually saw us home by 2.10 to 2.08. There were good performances from Dara Stakelum, Paddy Creedon,Conor Stapelton and Eoin Purcell. The Mid final against Moycarkey/Borris will be played on Saturday in The Ragg at 1.30 p.m. We wish the team and their mentors the very best of luck.
We defeated J.K. Brackens in the Mid Under 14 'A' hurling semi final on Thursday evening. Our final opponents will be Moycarkey/Borris or Holycross/Ballycahill who meet in the other semi final this week. Our ‘B’ team played Moycarkey/Borris ‘B’ in the Mid ‘C’ semi final on Tuesday evening.
Training continues at the usual times as we prepare for the knock out stages of the Mid championships.
