Medal Presentation Night on Friday

We will recall a memorable year at our medal presentation in the LIT Tipperary this Friday night. It was a magnificent year for our Under 14’s who won the county football and hurling double for the fourth time in the club’s history.  The last occasion Durlas Og recorded this remarkable double was all of 24 years ago in 1991.

The year commenced for the Under 14’s with the Peil na nOg competition.  We won both the Mid and County finals and went on to represent Tipperary in the All Ireland finals.  After a memorable weekend in the sunny South East we were defeated by Ferbane (Offaly) in the All Ireland quarter final. We had very little time to rest after our exploit at the Peil finals and it was straight back into action in the Mid football championship.  We defeated Moycarkey/Borris in the Mid final, Galtee/Golden  in the county semi final and Clonmel Og were overcome in the county final to bring the county Under 14 ‘A’ football cup back to Durlas Og for the first time since 2003.

Hurling took centre stage when the football championship concluded.  Durlas Og and Moycarkey/Borris contested the Mid final and this was one of the games of the year. We trailed by six points at half time but our boys staged a magnificent second half comeback to score a one point victory in a thrilling finish.  Knockavilla Kickhams were defeated in the county semi final and all roads led to Boherlahan for the county final against Roscrea.  The North champions led by the minimum at the break but a magnificent final quarter saw Durlas Og emerge victorious and complete a remarkable Mid and County football and hurling double.

This magnificent double was achieved by a group of talented and dedicated players.  They have given our supporters many memorable moments throughout the season and winning county titles in both football and hurling was a tremendous achievement.

We had other successes during 2015 and medals will also be presented to our Under 16’s (Mid Football Shield winners), Under 12’s (Mid Hurling winners) and Under 11’s (Mid Hurling Shield winners).

We invite all our supporters to come along to the LIT Tipperary on Friday night to honour our young players in what will be a celebratory night for all.  The proceedings will commence at 7.30 p.m. and special guests will be in attendance.
