Mid Tipperary Coiste na nÓg Notes – June 24th 2014

The Féile na nGael national and regional finals took place over the weekend with Moyne-Templetuohy our representative in the nation finals in Ulster and well done to them on their excellent performances, though unfortunately they exited the competition at the quarter final stage. Nearer to home Moycarkey-Borris had a very tough group in the regional finals but had the extra advantage of having home venue due to all the action taking place in Dr. Morris Park. After a terrific days hurling in Littleton and Dr. Morris Park, they were beaten by Dicksboro in the shield final after extra time. Again, well done to all concerned.

Hot on the heels of last weekend’s competition the Féile Peil na nÓg takes place in Connaught this weekend and leading the county at this competition for the first time is the same Moycarkey-Borris U14 panel who are having a terrific year to date. We wish them every success and like their counterparts in the Féile na nGael, we hope they have a most enjoyable and rewarding weekend and that the players will have long and happy memories of the festival for years to come.

Also, this Saturday Upperchurch-Drombane contest the U16C county football final against Arravale Rovers “B” in Holycross at 12.30pm and we wish them the very best of luck in that. Elsewhere, Diarmuid Ryan of Clonakenny represents the division in the U16 Poc Fada which is once again held on the Galtee Mountains outside of Lisvernane. Diarmuid will “trek the Galtee Mountains” over a course of approx. 3 km from start to finish and will have to conquer heather, ditches, ravines in as few pucks as possible. So here too we send our best wishes to Diarmuid and that he will compete well in the competition.

Back to the affairs of our division the last of this year’s championships throw in on Monday night with the commencement of the U16 championships, so best of luck to all the clubs at this grade.
We are up to round 5 of the U12 championships and round 2 of the U14 championships and these are progressing more or less on schedule.
