Our Under 16 'B' team were defeated by Drom/Inch in the Mid Under 16 'B' football final at Drombane on Monday evening. The team gave it their very best against a physical stronger Drom/Inch side who went on to win by 4-17 to 3-4.
The first half was dominated by Drom/Inch but despite having much possession they found our defence in top form and they led by 1-4 to 0-1 after 10 minutes.  Brendan O'Loughlin was our scorer and he kicked two further exceptional points from the right wing to keep his side in touch with Drom.  We were trailing by six points with five minutes of the half remaining when Shane Lanigan Ryan saw his high shot from 40 metres go all the way to the Drom net to leave a goal between the teams.  Drom finished the half strongly with three unanswered points to leave the half time score Drom/Inch 1-9 Durlas Og 1-3.
Billy McCarthy pointed a free in the opening minutes of the second half to reduce the deficit. Drom replied by scoring 1-3 before substitute Conor Cassidy goaled for Durlas Og to leave eight points between the teams. Drom were on top in the final quarter adding two further goals with Sean Butler replying with another Durlas Og goal to complete the scoring.
Well done to our players who never gave up and fought very hard up to the full time whistle.
